Multiple Sectional Overhead Doors Replacement
When one of our clients needs a new door, there’s no excuse for leaving them waiting. Not even a snowstorm will keep us off site – if anything, snow and rain often means work is needed sooner to make sure staff and inventory can stay out of the cold.
One of our clients, an Edinburgh timber merchant with a large yard, and a warehouse with multiple doors allowing vehicle access, needed six new doors installing at their site. Unfortunately, the works coincided with heavy snow and rain, meaning there was a degree of urgency to the job to make sure the building remained water tight.
Installing the overhead doors
Works began on the Tuesday after the Easter bank holiday and carried on through to the following Monday. The NGF team were on-site through the weekend to make sure the installation was carried out as quickly as possible, reducing business disruption for the company, as well as keeping the terrible weather out.
The six sectional overhead doors, each 5000mm x 5000mm, were installed to follow the internal roofline of the building, providing the maximum possible headroom for vehicles accessing the warehouse. As you’ll see from the site photo including our van for scale, there’s plenty of space!
Safety of sectional doors
Sectional overhead doors open vertically – they don’t swing out, so they can open safely and quickly even when a vehicle is parked right against them, or inventory is stacked right behind the door. The sectional panels also allow for a very good insulation rating, an added benefit that’s particularly useful in Scotland’s colder climate.
Despite the adverse conditions, we were able to finish the project on time, making sure our clients were back up and running, as well as weatherproof, as quickly as possible.
